A side note on two unrelated ideas that came together and transformed into a doubt.
Recently I read that the big white elephant in the room when debating changes in energy policies around the world is the misuse and general confusion regarding the meanings and definitions of two words: transition and transformation.
Why?
Because these two different but similar words, when not used correctly and especially without full knowledge of their definitions and connotations, have the power to upset and tranquilize simultaneously. In hindsight, it is not the first account of harmless words being used and comprehended badly and causing serious damage. This is something I have gotten used to, and on occasion can be blamed for.
The other thing I read about, is how innovation and innovative ideas are breakthroughs that originate in a momentary opening of the window of opportunity. It sounds mystical, and yet, it is a concept that is easily understandable and acceptable: creativity arises when we face an obstacle.
Then I start to think about and formulate an image of a crumbling house, that seems like it is flying through the clouds, almost like an airplane. Inside this room, or house, is a big elephant and a window that resembles an emergency exit. Is this what innovation means to me? What is wrong with me?
